Best rava idli in town

Today I had a nice fluffy steaming hot rava idli. And call me, desi, if you will but I just love the rava idli-coffee combo. So much so that I have cravings if I don't eat it at least once a week. One word to describe it is — YUM! Sure, it says all about this nice little snack that's healthy ( at least I think so). Since I love this snack so much I like to try it at every darshini (it is an equivalent of a dhabha — the only difference, it is a cafĂ© where you grab a quick meal that's usually eaten standing) in town. Of all places I've eaten rava idli I like the one that's dished out at a darshini near my workplace. Yes! For all those of you who know where I work this may come as a surprise. But, I guess, we all live on such small wonders.

Anyways, back to the rava idli. It is grainy and me thinks that the batter they use — they add lots of fresh chopped coriander (I'm guessing), cashew and roasted dal. And the resulting steamed dumpling that is served has a subtle aroma. My mouth's watering, thinking about it! Heck, now I guess this calls for another trip to the darshini tomorrow. Oh and it isn't compelete without the coconut chutney. Team it with a nice chotu glass of coffee and it is perfect —yummy bliss — on an overcast day. ( Now, this calls for a picture moment. I'll upload one as soon as I figure out how to transfer the pictures from my phone) Ah! All those evenings spent with friends, from work, the gossiping, venting, or plain going ga-ga over the food. Wow.

What surprises me is that every time the taste is the same. Wonder how they get that kind of consistency. What ever it is I hope it never changes or at least as long as I make my weekly visits.
